Reinstall boot to door and door jamb.ġ8 Dress wiring inside door jamb panel to be sure it's free from catching on anything.Ģ0. Attach door panel to connectors, connect battery and test for function of windows, mirror, locks.ġ7. Connect to new wires routed through the door.ġ5. ![]() In the opening in the middle of the door cut the harness wrap to get access to the power and ground cable in the harness (power = tan/purple, ground=black)ġ3. Route new wires outside the boot and through the grommet and into the door.ġ2. Connect new wires to the Power/ground wires pulled back through the boot and into the vehicle (Orange/wh = power, black= ground)ġ1. Using 14 ga wire (a red one and a black one) push through the two openings in the boot created with the finish nail.ġ0. Drill a 3/8" on the door jam (door side) about 1" below the opening for the boot (done from inside the door).ĩ. where the boot interfaces with door jamb on the vehicle, breach it in two spots on the bottom side with a finish nail.ħ. Remove door panel, step trim, and inner panel.Ħ. Cut power (orange-wt) and ground cable (black). Looks like lots of steps but it's pretty straight forward and it's a permanent fix.ģ. I recently fixed the driver side again, but made it permanent. I have made this repair several times on my '04 on both the driver and passenger sides but they always fail again.
